Regis Homes' Metro Place proves demand for loft living is on the rise.
Sacramento Bee, July 2004
With four of the 10 live-work lofts sold from blueprints only and hundreds of people vying for a chance to own a home at one of the most contemporary new projects in the region, Regis Homes of Northern California has found itself once again setting the trend in urban living with Metro Place at Washington Square.
As the first new-home community in the West Sacramento area in more than 35 years, Metro Place has played a key role in revitalizing the newly established River Walk area. Offering a combination of 44 single-family homes built around a center mews and 10 live-work lofts, Regis Homes is redefining the way the way the region lives and works, offering buyers all the benefits of the minimalist lifestyle sweeping the country. Featuring the opportunity to be close to work, entertainment, recreational activities, and the ambiance of downtown and the river, Metro Place has become the ideal place to work and play, Succeeding beyond expectations, Metro Place sold-out each of its phases in one day and has had more than 3,000 potential buyers visit the sales center in the first 6 months. Construction is underway on the lofts, and they are expected to be completed in February. A decorated model loft will educate buyers on how to furnish and function in the space. Six lofts are still available. Prices start in the low- to mid-$200,000 range.
“It is no surprise to us the response we’ve seen at Metro Place,” said Bob Holmes, project manager. “We knew this market was ready for this type of urban living concept and through our specialty and experience in urban infill communities, we knew we could set the standard for live-work lofts in the industry. We are proud to once again offer a completely new option in homeownership to the people in our community.”
On the corner of 3rd and C Streets, Metro Place is within walking distance of the river, Raley Field and Old Sacramento. The Lofts at Metro Place offer 1,220 square feet, 1,289 square feet or 1,643 square feet of space. They will feature exteriors that are compatible with the neighborhood, yet work well with long term planned commercial growth.
Regis Homes also has several other urban infill projects underway in Sacramento including the R Street Corridor. Four blocks from the Capitol, the R Street Corridor is home to the Fox and Goose Restaurant and Randy Paragary’s new restaurant and nightclub. Also in the works is Capitol Lofts, a Capitol Area Development project located at 11th and R streets. It is in the final phases of agency approval for 103 lofts and penthouses ranging in size from a little more than 800 square feet to almost 2,000 square feet. At the center of the project is a 1915 six-story warehouse that was purported to have been used to store Ford Model-T’s. Entry into the area will be through a lush courtyard into a contemporary urban lobby. A number of street units will offer live-work opportunities, while the penthouses will offer exclusive views of the downtown area.
