Now that we’re currently spending a lot more time at home, many of us have chosen to invest some time into designing and revamping our home. This includes updating our guest room. It’s probably been quite a while since you last had some stay over, so why not give it a little refresh for when we can eventually invite our friends and family over again.
If you’re looking to revamp your guest room again, here are 4 tips on how to expertly redesign your guest room, just in time for when your guests come over again.
Stick to a theme and colour palette
A guest room provides a clear canvas of how you wish to design it. You wouldn’t need to consider your own personal interests as it’s created for the neutral audience. One thing you should definitely remember, however, is that the theme and colour is welcoming to all.
A guest room is your opportunity to explore and try new things. You can easily push the boundaries and try something different. Even the most high-end hotels have a unique personality with their rooms. Try to explore where you can.
Understand your audience
You’re not going to let any random stranger stay in your home. The people you invite over are probably people you’re familiar with and know their personal interests. With this in mind, consider design aspects that will make their stay more comfortable and enjoyable.
If you have older guests, do you have the right accessibility for them to smoothly get in and out of bed? Personal touches can also be a great asset when you have close friends and family that used to stay over regularly.
Include the right furniture
For that extra comfort touch, include designer furniture such as a sofa or armchair. Other additional items in the room could include a full length mirror, which makes life easy when getting dressed. Bedside tables are also a must as guests may be conscious about keeping their personal items close to them during the night.
All in all, the most important aspect is just ensuring the room is spacious enough and not cluttered. You should bear the size of the room in mind when designing your room. A luxury coffee table can always be a nice feature to add in the room, but would it be practical if the room already doesn’t have enough floor space?
Purchase good quality bedding
The part of your guests that will always stick with them is whether they’ve had a good night sleep. Even if the room design isn’t to their own liking, when they’ve had a good night’s sleep, the rest of what they think will instantly go away. Investing in a good bedding and mattress will be perfect for your guests. The bedding should be fresh and comforting and you should also allow your guests to regulate their temperature when they stay over. Providing additional bedding and blankets if they require it.
